footle?

(verb) To engage in fruitless activity; mess about; talk or act foolishly.

When setting up the business, this old English word seemed to sum up the feeling around what we were doing! Thankfully, while still having fun, running Footle has proved to be less fruitless than feared.

Using over 40 years of graphic design experience, Bob and Eunice Bryant set out to create a new brand in the wonderfully creative world of stationery publishing.

Our aim is to produce stationery and giftware with bold, colourful designs, while using as planet-friendly processes as we can. Based in our studio in Cumbria, Footle is a true family-run 'cottage industry'. Our artists are spread far and wide, but are all chosen for their distinctive styles.

Footle's cards are supplied naked (ie not in cellophane bags) and are produced on demand to avoid waste. They are printed in Great Britain with vegan friendly inks onto FSC®* certified board, using print presses that are CO2 Neutral.

*The FSC® is an independent, non governmental, non profit organisation that promotes the responsible management of the world’s forests. It was established in 1993 as a response to concerns over global deforestation. It is a market-based means of promoting forest conservation.
The FSC® label provides a credible and measured link between responsible production and consumption, enabling the consumer to make socially and environmentally responsible purchasing decisions.
